Official Religion

The majority of Dutch people (over 50% of the population) is non-affiliated. The largest religious group is Roman Catholic at about 23%.

Safety Concerns

The Netherlands ranks 16th on the list of safest countries in the world. Crime rates are lower than in most European countries. Like any destination, pickpockets and scams exist, especially in crowded tourist zones during peak season. Always be vigilant when traveling.

Homosexual activity has been legal since 1945, same sex marriage has been legal since 2001, and LGBT discrimination is illegal and has been since 1993.
