Must See – Adorable Danish Graffiti

,

Like most large cities around the world, Copenhagen is full of graffiti. Over the years, graffiti is something I have gotten used to as an urban dweller. My hometown of Philadelphia tries to combat graffiti with a city-wide mural arts program and it’s been quite successful. Berlin is another city full of graffiti that has made it part of its charm – graffiti is a thread in the municipal fabric of the city. In Copenhagen, I walk past a piece of graffiti almost every day that is nothing short of adorable and I had to share it. Continue reading “Must See – Adorable Danish Graffiti”

Expat Life – Leaving Loved Ones Behind

When I was young, my aunt moved to California from Philadelphia. I didn’t really comprehend what that meant, I just knew that she wasn’t around as much and missed things that I wish I could have shared with her – birthdays, soccer games and even some holidays. As I was planning to move to Copenhagen I thought back to those times and how I would feel leaving my two nephews like she had done herself years before. Life has a way of teaching you things whether you’re paying attention for the lesson or not. Continue reading “Expat Life – Leaving Loved Ones Behind”

How to Embrace Minimalism

Expat Life 4 Months In – Advice for the Early Stage of Expatriating

This week marked four months since I arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark to reunite with my partner, Mike and begin our journey as American expats. I was also featured on an awesome blog, Young American Expat, where they asked me to talk about my experience and provide advice. I decided to reflect a little deeper on this and share my thoughts here as well.

Norway in a Nutshell – In a Nutshell

Earlier this month I set off on a trip unlike my other travels these summers and I experienced Norway by embarking on the Sogneford in a Nutshell tour. Because of her Norwegian heritage, my friend Ashley wanted to include this excursion to Norway when she visited me in Copenhagen along with our friend Marilyn. Over four days we experienced the breathtaking Scandinavian IMG_1162.JPGlandscape from Bergen to Oslo through the fjords and mountain trains with stops in Flåm and Myrdal. Norway was never high on my travel bucket list, but on this trip I was pleasantly surprised and the getaway made me reconsider my travel priorities going forward!
